Process

From raw clay to finished stoneware.

The studio uses a slow, practical process designed for durable pieces and calm surfaces.

Clay being wedged before throwing

1. Prepare

Clay is weighed, wedged and matched to the form before it ever reaches the wheel.

2. Throw

Forms are pulled slowly for balance: even walls, stable feet and comfortable rims.

3. Glaze

Surfaces are layered with food-safe studio glazes in clay, ash, cream and sage tones.

Firing

Heat gives each piece its final character.

After drying and bisque firing, work is glazed and fired to stoneware temperature. The result is strong enough for daily use while still showing the hand of the maker.

  • Dishwasher safe, though hand washing is gentler
  • Microwave safe unless noted otherwise
  • Lead-free and food-safe glazes for functional pieces
